Water Hackathon 2025 – Season 2: A Journey of Innovation for the Water Sector!

 
 

Water Hackathon 2025 is an innovation competition in Vietnam’s Southern Key Economic Region, focused on developing technological and creative solutions to address water-related challenges—one of life’s most vital and finite resources. The program encourages young communities, startups, experts, and environmental enthusiasts to co-create breakthrough ideas that contribute to effective and sustainable water resource protection and management. 

The competition centers on creative solutions for sustainable water management. It is co-organized by Informa Markets, IECES – Institute of Environment Circular Economy Southern, Saigon Innovation Hub (SIHUB), the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam–Netherlands Friendship Association, the Faculty of Industrial Management – Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), UTA Solutions, and Mentix Capital. 

Participating teams with outstanding solutions will receive continued support to develop their projects on the platform netzerochallenge.vn, contributing to sustainability goals and a greener planet.

Objectives of Water Hackathon 2025

  • Ignite creativity: Provide an environment for individuals and teams to generate innovative ideas and apply new technologies in the water domain.
  • Address real-world challenges: Tackle urgent issues such as water pollution, drinking water management, water conservation, and climate-change resilience.
  • Connect & support: Build a network linking innovators, experts, enterprises, and investors to accelerate project development.
  • Advance sustainability: Support high-applicability projects that contribute to sustainable development and environmental protection.

Eligibility

Open to individuals and teams passionate about water, wastewater treatment, environmental protection, sustainable development, and climate change, including:

  • Students and researchers
  • Startup founders
  • Technology and environmental professionals
  • Organizations and enterprises active in the water & environment sector

Competition Journey

  1. Registration: Teams register and submit project ideas.
  2. Ideation: Teams receive mentoring and expert guidance to refine solutions.
  3. Pitch & Evaluation: Teams present to the judging panel.
  4. Project Development: Top teams are supported to further develop and pilot their projects
