Increasing access to safe drinking water in remote and rural areas of Vietnam presents many challenges.  This is particularly the case where centralised treatment and pipe networks may not be economically viable or technically feasible.  YWPs are to discuss and identify technology solutions and management models for decentralised drinking water systems in rural and remote areas with a population of less than 5000 people.

Urban water companies in Vietnam are working towards providing drinking water to customers at the tap. Management and upgrading of treatment systems and pipe networks is key to achieving this and requires significant capital investment.
